About the Artist

"As a child I illustrated my hand written stories. Later in life I captured stories through the lens of my camera. Today I use a paint brush to honour my Creator through beauty and gratitude"

Maretha was born in South-Africa and lived in England before settling in Canada with her husband and children.

Maretha says " Moving around with my husband Wilraad and two young children was not always easy but my faith sustained me throughout. "

Her love for art was inspired by her grandfarther who often shared his drawings with the grandchildren - sparking her creativity from a young age.

Maretha was a photographer but the urge to paint was always there and she pursued her dream of becoming an artist later in life.

She loves mixed media and expresses herself in abstracts as well as abstract realism emphasizing the connection between her experiences and beliefs.

Currently Maretha resides with her husband next to lake Ontario where she has set up her studio.
